Some aspects of the Secretary of State's announcement were statements of the blindingly obvious. I cannot believe that she can say, ““We must give more power to the people, so that they feel that if they get involved it will be worth their time and effort.”” People are perfectly rational, and they get involved if they can see any point to it. If, during a consultation in my community, my constituents were offered option A and option B, and option A was 34 and option B was also 34, there would be little point in getting involved.
