Proceeding contribution from Lord Stunell (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 6 May 2009. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Tax Avoidance and Evasion.

Tax Avoidance and Evasion

I entirely support what the hon. Gentleman says. Perhaps he will take into account the words of the right hon. Member for Leeds, West (John Battle): Africa needs accountants. Many African Governments are not professionally equipped to deal with the kind of challenging financial regimes that confront them. This is a major problem. Even if the partners are willing participants, how will they evaluate the material that they receive and move on to enforcement?
