Proceeding contribution from Baroness Royall of Blaisdon (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 14 October 2009. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Afghanistan and Pakistan

The Statement says, ""thirdly, that our commitment is part of an agreed approach across the international coalition, with all countries bearing their fair share"." I beg the pardon of noble Lords. I was not wishing to mislead the House and I take back what I said earlier. However, I am confident that the Prime Minister would not have made this Statement if he were not confident that this condition could be met. That is exactly what the Chief of the Defence Staff also thinks. This is not me speaking: it is the Prime Minister and the Chief of Defence Staff who will have had conversations with their counterparts.
