Proceeding contribution from Stephen O'Brien (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 27 January 2010. It occurred during Opposition day on Dementia Services.

Dementia Services

It is interesting that the hon. Gentleman seems to have a question about every single point that I am making. I shall come back to him, if I may, after I have made sure that the Secretary of State is aware of what I am saying. Despite questions from Opposition Members on the budget for memory clinics and the number of staff expected to be employed to deliver them, the Government could only answer:""Decisions about the nature, number and funding of the memory clinics will be made locally by primary care trusts, depending on local circumstances."—[Official Report, 23 February 2009; Vol. 488, c. 202W.]" What sort of a promise is that? The question for the Secretary of State today remains this: what is the precise number of planned and existing memory clinics and how many specially trained staff are there in the country?
