UK Government's Energy Policy

I thank the hon. Gentleman for his question, but I shall not pre-empt anything that my right hon. Friend the Chancellor may do in his Budget. The hon. Gentleman knows very well that the Treasury is considering the cost of fuel, and announcements must keep until the Budget. With your permission, Mr Havard, I shall make some progress. The renewable industries are a vital piece in the green jigsaw, and our national policy statements contain a firm commitment to generate at least a third of our electricity from renewable energy by 2020. Wales, with its wealth of wind power and its historical strength in the energy sector, is well placed to play a full part in meeting that challenge.
