UK Government's Energy Policy
As for speed restrictions, the last major upgrade on the line was in 1965 when coloured signals were introduced. That was a long time ago, so an upgrade from Cardiff to Swansea is long overdue. Many line speed restrictions need to be looked at and need modernisation. We travel on the Vale of Glamorgan line at practically walking speed and the whole journey takes an hour for historic reasons. We need to look at the line speeds.
