UK Government's Energy Policy

No, I must make some progress. I have been generous in giving way. The fuel price crisis reinforces the urgency of moving decisively to a low-carbon strategy, which this Government, rhetoric and spin aside, show little sign of doing. Policies to tackle climate change are no longer just about the long-term threat to our planet. They are now about daily bread-and-butter matters of living standards, which is why I again appeal to the Secretary of State to reverse the Government's short-sighted and reactionary rejection of the Severn barrage. It is the single most important low-carbon, renewable energy project in Britain. If the Government do not reverse their decision, no one will believe that they are serious about tackling climate change.
