UK Government's Energy Policy
I am grateful to the hon. Gentleman for provoking me. He referred to the Severn barrage and the question of financial commitment. The point is that a private sector consortium is investing money in the work that would lead to the point where we could take a decision on whether the Severn barrage should go ahead. The decision of this Government has been to curtail that, even before it has got to the point where it is appropriate for this place to be taking decisions.
