Proceeding contribution from Lord Hain (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 30 March 2011. It occurred during Grand Committee proceedings (HC) on The Budget.
The Budget
My hon. Friend makes a significant point. Time and again we see what the Government are doing here at Westminster—cutting the Welsh budget and discriminating against Wales, and then when they are challenged saying that it is up to the Welsh Assembly Government or local authorities, who are themselves being starved of funds, to cope with the consequences. That is completely unacceptable. Frankly, it is a transparent attempt to hoodwink the people of Wales about what is going on.
