The Budget
It is easy to cherry-pick individual projects, but do we not need to consider the totality? If we examine the data—the gross value added, the gross domestic product or whatever measure we want to use—we see that Wales is the poorest part of the United Kingdom. That is our inheritance. Although the hon. Member for Vale of Clwyd picks out individual projects that might well be successful—we are happy to back those—the totality means that Wales is still the poorest part of the United Kingdom.
