The Budget

I do not have time; I have only one minute. I turn to the statement made by the Prime Minister today on the impact that the increase in inflation may have on the NHS budget in England. The Prime Minister gave a clear commitment that we would stick to our promise to inflation-proof the NHS. Yet in Wales, we see its budget cut back by 7%, which is another real issue about fairness. My final point is on the funding formula. I agree that there is a need to address it in the interests of fairness but, from my discussions with Ministers, I believe that they understand that as well. We can look forward to more progress in that area than we had in 10 to 13 years from the previous Government.
