Proceeding contribution from Lord Strathclyde (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 7 June 2011. It occurred during Legislative debate on Draft House of Lords Reform Bill.

Draft House of Lords Reform Bill

The Clegg committee met nine times between May and December last year before the draft Bill and the White Paper were brought forward last month. I hope that, having heard this, the noble Lord, Lord Cunningham, will feel that he has had a good outing on the subject and that he is confident, as I am, that the Joint Committee will look at these matters. We can leave it up to the Joint Committee to decide whether it can meet the deadline of the end of February next year.
