Proceeding contribution from Iain Stewart (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 11 August 2011. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Public Disorder.

Public Disorder

I welcomed the Prime Minister's comments about the role of social media. May I urge him to look into might be called the internet equivalent of hoax 999 calls? It would seem that the police have had to waste considerable time dealing with false and malicious rumours about mob activity, and the law and penalties must be fully up to date with that.
