Proceeding contribution from Peter Bone (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 8 March 2012. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Rail Reform.

Rail Reform

I thank the Secretary of State, as I think the whole House will, for making copies of the report available before the statement, which was very much appreciated. Is it not wonderful that we have heard socialist ideas from the Opposition Benches? They suggest that we should renationalise the railways and everything will be wonderful. Have they forgotten that under British Rail they were managing decline and putting prices up? Under privatisation far more people have wanted to get on the trains, so the solution is to find more capacity, not renationalise.
