Proceeding contribution from Gregg McClymont (Labour) in the House of Commons on Friday, 23 March 2012. It occurred during Budget debate on Budget Resolutions and Economic Situation.

Budget Resolutions and Economic Situation

As usual, my hon. Friend hits on the apposite point. Corporates do have an enormous cash pile, and we have to ask, why are they not investing? It is because they do not think there is anyone to buy their products; it is as simple as that. Of course, no one is suggesting that this issue is all about one side, because it is not all about stimulating demand at the expense of cutting the deficit, but my and the Opposition's view is that the Government have got the balance wrong. Confidence will not be restored if there is no growth in the economy.
