Education: Women

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, with reference to his Department's policy paper, Policy paper, Every girl goes to school, stay safe, and learns: five years of global action 2021 to 2026, published on 12 May 2021, what assessment the Government has made of the effectiveness of UNAIDS in ensuring that all girls finish secondary school which is evidenced to decrease the risk of HIV infection; and what steps his Department is taking to ensure that girls can access a reinforcing package of rights and empowerment.

Answer: The UK regularly consults with civil society organisations and shares their determination to advocate for the rights and needs of the most marginalised groups affected by HIV. The UK remains committed to addressing HIV and AIDS through our commitments to the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and malaria and our work on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). We remain committed to a strong UNAIDS and we are fully engaged in the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board.
