Shipping: Energy and Infrastructure

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the report by Maritime UK entitled Maritime UK's programme for Government, published on 10 October 2022, if he will make an assessment of the potential merits of implementing the recommendation in that report to create a cross-department forum bringing together the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and his Department to increase coordination on energy and infrastructure matters, including the Clean Maritime Plan.

Answer

The Department intends to publish a revised Clean Maritime Plan in 2023. This plan will set out the next steps to decarbonising the maritime sector.

In development of the Clean Maritime Plan, the Government regularly engages with the maritime industry, including Maritime UK. We welcome the recommendation to engage cross-government on the development of the Clean Maritime Plan.
