Bank Notes: Design
- Question

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with reference to the Answer of 10 April 2026 to Question 121749 on Bank Notes: Design, whether the Banknote Character Advisory Committee still has members and still meets.
- Answer
-
The Banknote Character Advisory Committee is no longer active. This Committee was established in 2015 to advise the Governor of the Bank of England on the designs for the current (Series G) banknotes.
The Bank established a new internal advisory group in 2025, the Banknote Imagery Advisory Group, to advise the Governor on the choice of theme and wildlife imagery to go on Series H banknotes. The Terms of Reference for this Group can be found on the Bank of England website, here: Banknote imagery advisory group: Terms of reference | Bank of England.
