Bicester Storage Site

- To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many civilian staff are employed at the storage and distribution site at Bicester; and how many of these are employed by (a) contractors and (b) agencies.

As at 1 November 2005, the number of civilian staff employed in the Defence Distribution and Storage Agency, in the South East Government Office Region was 1,130 Full Time Equivalent (FTE). The number of civilian staff employed in the South East Government Office Region was 16,900 Full time Equivalent (FTE).Robust data on contractors and agency staff are not held centrally by the Department.However, local information indicates that as at 1 November 2005, the number of civilian staff employed in the Defence Storage and Distribution Agency, on the Bicester site was approximately 800 people with approximately 40 agency staff. No local records are kept of the number of contractors employed.
