Departmental Marketing

Question
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment he has made of the cost effectiveness of Government-commissioned advertising in the last 12 months relating to matters falling within the remit of his Department.
Answer

The majority of advertising undertaken by the Treasury in the last 12 months was for the purposes of recruitment. The advertising is evaluated to ascertain the volume and quality of responses and is used, together with advice from the Department's advertising agency, to ensure the most effective medium is used.
