To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what the relationship of the Civil Service Sports Council is to the UK Civil Service. - Including ref to www.csse.co.uk.

Dr. Whitehead: To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office what the relationship of the Civil Service Sports Council is to the UK Civil Service. [197853] Ruth Kelly: The Civil Service Sports Council Limited is a company registered under the Industrial and Provident Society Acts. It is owned by its members who pay a membership subscription. Membership is open to employees in Civil Service Departments or Agencies, Royal Mail, British Telecommunications and other public bodies such as museums, research councils or companies carrying out ex-civil service work. CSSC Ltd. receives an annual grant from the Cabinet Office to encourage and co-ordinate the pursuit of all forms of sport and recreation throughout the Civil Service. The range of activities organised by CSSC can be seen on their website at www.cssc.co.uk. Most activities are run by volunteers.
