Proceeding contribution from Earl of Listowel (Crossbench) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 12 October 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Children and Adoption Bill [HL].
Children and Adoption Bill [HL]
At Second Reading I asked whether there had been consultation about the Bill with children, and the noble Baroness, Lady Ashton, kindly sent me some extremely helpful information in response. However, it amounted to a review of cases rather than a distinct consultation with children. We might seek the views of children on the legislation or, which I would find very interesting indeed, hold a discussion with children a few years down the line on how they have experienced the effects of the legalisation. There is a book that considers a few cases, but I am not aware that there is anything wider than that.
