Proceeding contribution from Lord Hunt of Wirral (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 23 January 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Compensation Bill [HL].
Compensation Bill [HL]
We assume that there will be certain targets, whether implicit or explicit, public or private, and that the regulator will be seeking to match them. The words ““try to”” on the face of Bill water down the requirement to an unacceptable degree. The Government must try to do better on this one.
