Proceeding contribution from Tony McNulty (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 20 July 2006. It occurred during Legislative debate on Prevention and Suppression of Terrorism.

Prevention and Suppression of Terrorism

I assume that the hon. Gentleman was here at the start of my speech. I said very clearly that the organisations are being proscribed under the glorification offence in section 21 of the Terrorism Act 2006, which deals with those organisations that glorify "““the commission or preparation…of acts of terrorism””." Glorification includes"““any form of praise or celebration””" of acts of terrorism. This is the first time that the offence has been used, and I made that clear at the start of my deliberations.
