Proceeding contribution from Baroness Amos (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 11 June 2007. It occurred during Ministerial statement on G8: 2007 Summit.

G8: 2007 Summit

My Lords, the noble Baronessmay be aware that there are ongoing discussions with China on Darfur, partly under the UN Security Council umbrella, but also in other fora, includingthe G8. She is right; it is clear that we have to demonstrate that there is a peace dividend, which we are limping towards in southern Sudan. It has been much slower than I think we would all have wished, but we are beginning to see some little green shoots as a result of the deal a couple of years ago.
