Proceeding contribution from Tony Blair (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 11 June 2007. It occurred during Ministerial statement on G8 Summit.

G8 Summit

The protection of minority communities is an important issue. That is where Russia, for example—[Interruption.] Russia has a point in that it is important that we give proper protection to minorities. We are not going to move out of step with the international community—we will move in step with it—but the difficulty, as became apparent when we discussed Kosovo in detail, is that if we do not go down the path laid out by Mr. Ahtisaari, what happens? It is important that we do not do anything premature, but it is important that we reach a conclusion.
