Proceeding contribution from Greg Knight (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 14 June 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HC) on Rating (Empty Properties) Bill.

Rating (Empty Properties) Bill

I am not sure that the proposal is all that open ended, as it states that"““the owner is entitled to possession only in his capacity as the personal representative””." If a deceased person’s personal representative becomes the owner of a property when the estate is wound up, his status under the amendment would change. It is grossly unfair for the state to impose a tax on a person merely because of probate delays caused by the same state.
