Proceeding contribution from Lord Swire (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 12 November 2007. It occurred during Queen's speech debate on Foreign Affairs and Defence Debate on the Address.

Foreign Affairs and Defence

When the Foreign Secretary travels to that part of the world shortly, will he try to impress on the Israeli Government that they cannot continue to use the cutting off of energy resources into Gaza as a threat? Also, the choking off of Gaza is beginning to exacerbate an already tricky situation, so will he stress the importance of opening up the border with Gaza again, so that that population can continue to trade?
