Proceeding contribution from Baroness Smith of Malvern (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 11 June 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Counter-Terrorism Bill.

Counter-Terrorism Bill

It is the responsibility of this House and the Government to make a judgment and to bring forward laws that will then be implemented. If the hon. and learned Gentleman were ever in government, I would be very surprised if he then wanted to take a different approach. I have described the risk. We cannot wish that risk away, and we should not try to.
