Proceeding contribution from Lord Skelmersdale (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 17 July 2008. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Pensions Bill.
Pensions Bill
That is extremely helpful. None the less, we believe that the regulator is not the correct answer. If we continue down this route, we will end up with a one-size-fits-all definition of what every pension scheme will look like. Moreover, as I said, direct benefit schemes will continue on their downward spiral. As I said at the beginning, I will take advice on this. But I would be fairly surprised if we did not come back to this issue on Report. Clause 110 agreed to.
