Proceeding contribution from Louise Ellman (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 11 November 2008. It occurred during Debate on Heathrow.

Heathrow

I am sorry, but I cannot because of the time constraints. It is extremely important that the implications for Heathrow as an international hub are considered seriously. It is vital that we look at the economy of the United Kingdom and do not throw away our economic competitiveness at a time of recession. All the factors that I have mentioned need to be examined, both as they are now and as they will operate in the future. We need to recognise the importance of Heathrow as an international hub and we need to take decisions for the long term.
