Proceeding contribution from Lord De Mauley (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 11 May 2009. It occurred during Debate on bill on Postal Services Bill [HL].

Postal Services Bill [HL]

My Lords, I thank the Minister for tabling these amendments in response to our concerns about what we considered to be the unclear drafting of this clause. I agree that the changes make it much clearer that the Secretary of State’s powers to interfere in the ongoing RMPP will be used only as a plan B if the Government’s preferred scheme fails, and I welcome that clarification. Amendment 36 agreed.
