Proceeding contribution from Chris Huhne (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Monday, 2 November 2009. It occurred during Debate on Antisocial Behaviour.
Antisocial Behaviour
The hon. Gentleman makes a good point about the need for support from the family. One of the issues with ASBOs has been the lack of application of support orders to ensure that they are backed up. If that is the hon. Gentleman's point, I entirely agree with him. The same National Audit Office study found that on average acceptable behaviour contracts cost £230 and were 65 per cent. effective. That compares with ASBOs, which cost a frankly staggering £3,100 yet were only 45 per cent. effective.
