Faith communities make a vital contribution to Britain, guiding the moral outlook of many, inspiring great numbers of people to public service and providing help to those in need. Ahmadiyya Muslims have made an immeasurable contribution to this country through their representation in business and public services, as well as charitable work such as the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association’s support for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal which has raised thousands of pounds.

The Environment Agency estimates the number of residential properties in areas at high risk of flooding from rivers and the sea to have decreased by about 224,000 in England since 2006. This is due to the delivery of flood and coastal risk management schemes along with improvements in modelling and changes to the classification of risk.

Hill farming is crucial to maintaining the Lake District’s environment and landscape and is a vital part of our national heritage. Management of grazing plays an important part in preserving the Lake District’s environment, which is home to extensive areas of significant and rare habitat, internationally important rivers and lakes, and key sources of drinking water for the cities of the north west.

Currently 1,000 agreement holders are working in partnership with Natural England through Environmental Stewardship and Countryside Stewardship schemes; this amounts to 75% of the farmed area of the Lake District. More than £11m of public money is being invested through these schemes, which are enabling farmers to manage 78,000ha of moorland and to restore features which are part of the farmed landscape. Internal monitoring of these schemes shows that hill farmers have made a contribution to improving the environment on some fells by adopting more environmentally sustainable grazing practices.

The Government recognises the valuable contribution of hill farmers in ensuring the well-being and survival of heritage sheep breeds in the Lake District. Long traditions of shepherding and sheep such as Herdwicks and Rough Fells are part of the distinctive culture and landscape of the Lakes.

Aside from the information included in my Written Answer of 15 November (HL2957) regarding British Gibraltar Territorial Waters, the Government does not hold comprehensive records on British State vessels entering into Spanish Territorial Waters or Spanish State vessels entering into British Territorial Waters.

The Lake District’s bid for World Heritage Site status is now in the advanced stages. The evaluation mission to the site took place in October 2016, with HMG in attendance, and the expert evaluators are currently compiling their report. DCMS has provided further information to assist with this, and will continue to do so as requested. The final decision will be taken by the World Heritage Committee in July 2017.

We continue to follow developments in Turkey closely and underline the importance of the rule of law and the protection of freedom of expression. The Foreign Secretary, my Rt Hon. Friend the Member for Uxbridge and South Ruislip (Boris Johnson) raised these issues during his visit to Turkey on 25-27 September, as has the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my Rt Hon. Friend the Member for Rutland and Melton (Sir Alan Duncan) with Turkey’s Minister for Europe, Omer Celik, most recently in a telephone call on 7 November.

The UK is a founding member of the World Trade Organisation. As an EU Member State, the UK’s obligations in the World Trade Organization are shared with the European Union, and specific commitments are set out in EU schedules. As we leave the EU, we will need to establish specific UK schedules of commitments.

The Environment Agency estimates the number of residential properties in England in areas at high risk of flooding to be:

• 169,000 properties in areas at high risk of flooding from rivers and the sea

• 239,000 properties in areas at high risk of flooding from surface water

The Government closely monitors the security situation for British national visitors of all backgrounds in 225 countries. Our travel advice for Turkey is regularly updated and contains advice about which parts of the country may present risks to visitors.

Artificial light provides valuable benefits to society, including through extending opportunities for sport and recreation, and can be essential to a new development. Equally, artificial light is not always necessary, has the potential to become what is termed ‘light pollution’ or ‘obtrusive light’ and not all modern lighting is suitable in all locations.

The National Planning Policy Framework expects the planning system to contribute to and enhance the natural and local environment. The Government is clear that planning decisions should limit the impact of light pollution from artificial light on local amenity, intrinsically dark landscapes and nature conservation. The Framework must be taken into account when preparing a Local Plan and is a material consideration in planning decisions.

The UK Government's foreign travel advice states that crime levels in Maldives are relatively low, but petty crime does occur. Gang related violence in locally populated areas, including the capital Male, has increased recently. There is no evidence to suggest that British nationals are being targeted. As in many parts of the world, there is a general threat from terrorism and attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by tourists. Our assessment of security issues is regularly reviewed and reflected in our travel advice. We do not advise against travel to the Maldives.

There were 434 incursions by Spanish State vessels into British Gibraltar Territorial Waters from 1 November 2015 – 31 October 2016, compared to 404 in the preceding 12 months. This represents an increase of 7%.

My Rt hon Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade last met with the World Trade Organisation Director General on the 27^th September 2016, and expects to meet him shortly.

The UK is a founding Member of the World Trade Organisation in its own right. We will update the terms of our membership as necessary and will work closely with other members to minimise disruption to our trading relationships.

The Government is very clear that good design is a key aspect of sustainable development, is indivisible from good planning, and should contribute positively to making places better for people. It wants to see new developments that function well and add to the overall quality of the area, that establish a strong sense of place by using streetscapes and buildings to create attractive and comfortable places to live, work and visit.

The National Planning Policy Framework makes clear that planning policies and decisions should take account of the different roles and character of different areas and recognise the intrinsic character and beauty of the countryside.

UK companies are active in a range of sectors in Turkey, and the UK is consistently among the country’s top sources of foreign investment. The failed coup in Turkey on 15 July and its aftermath has had some short term impact, and the political situation remains challenging. The Turkish economy is well under-pinned and offers significant opportunities for investors in the medium and long term, particularly if the government proceeds with planned structural reforms.
