Proceeding contribution from Charles Clarke (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 28 June 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill on Identity Cards Bill.

Identity Cards Bill

To be quite candid, I decided not to go into this type of partisan political point, first because it is obviously alien to my character and is not the kind of thing that I would want to do, and secondly because it would be unfair. The hon. Member for Buckingham (John Bercow) made the point earlier that he voted against his party in December 2004 and intends to continue doing so. The right hon. Member for Haltemprice and Howden (David Davis) has reversed his position.
