Proceeding contribution from Baroness Scotland of Asthal (Labour) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 13 July 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee of the Whole House (HL) on Equality Bill (HL).

Equality Bill [HL]

I said that there has not been an opportunity for extended consultation. I do not know whether the noble Baroness is right that there has been no consultation at all. I do not believe that that is the position, but it may be. I was trying to indicate that we understand that there will have to be further consideration of these matters and that we will consult. The noble Baroness is absolutely right: many faith communities have schools that provide these services and we will want to consult with all those in the sector who may be affected, whether adversely or positively, by these provisions. On Question, amendment agreed to.
