Proceeding contribution from Lord Dholakia (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 14 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Bill.

Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Bill

My Lords, we certainly support the amendment. It is right that the points system be reviewed three years after coming into force. I hope that that is not the only time the review takes place, and that there will be an opportunity at some stage for the independent monitor to see how the system is operating. On the basis of reports being available, we could then determine what further action was necessary to strengthen the points system.
