Proceeding contribution from Baroness Turner of Camden (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 14 March 2006. It occurred during Debate on bill on Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Bill.

Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Bill

My Lords, I was happy to put my name to this amendment when approached by the noble Earl, Lord Listowel. Of course, he is quite right. The National Asylum Support Service should be obliged to have regard to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. That should be part of its duty. I hope that we will have a sympathetic response from the Minister this evening.
