Proceeding contribution from Gordon Prentice (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 22 January 2007. It occurred during Debate on bill on Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Bill.
Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Bill
The Liberal-controlled authority in Pendle talks about an ““exciting vision”” of a unitary authority with Burnley, which is"““shared by…citizens of Burnley and Pendle.””" There is no evidence for that at all. I return to the point that was just mentioned: are councils expected to canvass the views of the electorate if they are going to dissolve the two-tier system and move towards a unitary system?
