Afghanistan and the EU Council

Yesterday I saw our British forces training the Afghan forces in the handheld equipment that is necessary to detect IEDs. Most of the work that we are doing on IEDs with robotic equipment is done by British forces, but over time it must be our aim to train the Afghan forces, so that they can take responsibility for the security of those districts and provinces. That, I believe, is the proper strategy for Afghanistan, and I hope that there will be all-party support for it.
