Proceeding contribution from Tom Brake (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Monday, 10 October 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill on Civil Aviation Bill.
Civil Aviation Bill
I thank the Minister for setting out the progress that is being made, which is welcome. I was aware of some of the matters that he mentioned, but not of others. He has highlighted the fact that confusion will persist among air travellers about why certain airlines can operate in UK air space, whereas they cannot in other countries, particularly when the information about the banned airlines in other EU countries is available to those who have the nous to find it on those countries’ websites. I am afraid that the Minister, while setting out the progress that has been made, has not addressed the central issue, which is the confusion that will exist among air travellers as to why different standards apply. That information needs to be made public, so I should like to press the new clause to a vote.
