Proceeding contribution from Lord Hammond of Runnymede (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 21 April 2008. It occurred during Debate on bill on Finance Bill.
Finance Bill
I am glad to note that the hon. Gentleman was one of the signatories of the early-day motion, and I hope that he will sign early-day motion 1340 at the earliest opportunity. We have made it clear that the message that we hope to send to the Government next Monday evening is that they have to go back to the drawing board and unpick this £20 billion package of income tax rates, income tax thresholds, tax credits and national insurance bands in order to mitigate the most negative effects—£766 million-worth—on the poorest families.
