Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill

My Lords, the Bill provides for a new criminal offence, which is less than the existing criminal offences. If that is not the case, there is no point in having the new offence at all. It relates to disturbance and nuisance that does not currently amount to a criminal offence but which the noble Lord and his Government seek to criminalise in the context of a hospital. It will give the police the power to arrest someone in a hospital but not in a GP surgery. In our submission, that is quite wrong. It does not matter whether you are in a hospital, in hospital grounds or in a hospital ambulance; you are entitled if you work in the NHS to the same level of protection. For that reason, I intend to test the opinion of the House. I beg to move. On Question, Whether the said amendment (No. 110A) shall be agreed to?
