Proceeding contribution from Lord Howard of Rising (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 13 January 2009. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Banking Bill.

Banking Bill

I thank the Minister for his remarks, but I must point out that monitoring something is not the same as requiring something to be done, or instructing for it to be done. The request that has been made is perfectly reasonable, and I am rather disappointed that the noble Lord has reacted so negatively. However, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment 12 withdrawn.
