Proceeding contribution from Lord Taylor of Holbeach (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 28 January 2009. It occurred during Committee of the Whole House (HL) and Debate on bill on Marine and Coastal Access Bill [HL].
Marine and Coastal Access Bill [HL]
I am encouraged by the Minister’s comment, because it removes some anxiety that the marine policy statement would not necessarily be comprehensive in the marine area. It reinforces the argument—a very good thing—that the MMO has a key role in the policy decisions that affect even the elements that currently under legislation fall to the IPC. It is very important that we emphasise this. This is an important area of the Bill. I hope that noble Lords who have somewhat criticised my particular focus recognise that it has a purpose.
