Proceeding contribution from Lord Newby (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 3 February 2009. It occurred during Debate on bill on Banking Bill.
Banking Bill
My Lords, my reason for moving this amendment was to ensure that the Government could not repeatedly override the rule of Parliament. The Minister has explained that the purpose of his amendment is to enable Ministers to reflect the will of Parliament, should an initial order be overturned. On that basis, I am happy to withdraw my amendment. Amendment 58 withdrawn.
