Proceeding contribution from David Hamilton (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 30 June 2008. It occurred during Opposition day on Energy Security.
Energy Security
Some of us are sitting on the fence in relation to nuclear power, and like others I am still to be convinced, although I am not closing my mind to it. As consumption in China and India is expected to rise by 50 per cent. between now and 2030 and as coal will have to be burnt, surely a country that extracted only 15 per cent. of its coal reserves should be talking about major investment in the coal industry as well as the nuclear industry.
