Proceeding contribution from Baroness Amos (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 18 July 2006. It occurred during Ministerial statement on G8: 2006 Summit.

G8: 2006 Summit

My Lords, all the proposals which have been put forward over the past few days have been looked at either in formal or informal discussions in a number of ways. Of course what we want is a ceasefire; that is our top priority. But it has to involve the participation of all sides in the conflict. Therein lies a major problem because those countries which have an influence on Hezbollah are fuelling the conflict. At this point they are not remotely interested in moving forward in a negotiated way.
