Proceeding contribution from Lord Hanningfield (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 8 December 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Civil Aviation Bill.

Civil Aviation Bill

I support the Minister on this occasion. Having Stansted Airport located in the middle of Essex, I want to point out first that I am fighting to retain the Essex police force as it is, but that is a different argument. However, I support what the Minister has said by reason of the wider implications for policing. While I am quite happy for other bodies to be involved, the wiser course is for the main local police force to be responsible for the policing of an airport.
