Proceeding contribution from Lord Davies of Oldham (Labour) in the House of Lords on Monday, 5 December 2005. It occurred during Debate on bill and Committee proceeding on Civil Aviation Bill.
Civil Aviation Bill
I cannot meet the noble Lord on his amendment and I shall ask him to withdraw it, but I recognise the strength of what he says. What if a non-designated airport of some significance was in breach—what happens then? The Government have made it clear that if there were major noise problems at a non-designated airport that were not being adequately dealt with through local controls and powers, they would be prepared to use powers under Section 78 to designate that airport and bring it within the framework of that regulation.
